Welcome to the St Mary's family

At St Mary's, we accept new learners from Grade R through to Matric, with Grade R and Grade 8 being our standard point of entry.


Complete the application form and submit it with all the relevant supporting documentation*

You will be notified once your daughter's name has been successfully added to the waiting list

If your application is successful, you will receive a letter +/- 18 months prior to your daughter's starting date

You will then need to complete the admission agreement and pay the confirming fee

*Supporting documentation required :

  • Copy of your daughter's unabridged birth certificate
  • Copy of your daughter's latest school report (where applicable)
  • Copy of both parents' identity documents
  • Credit Check form completed and signed by both parents
  • Photo of your daughter
  • Proof of payment - R500 registration fee (EFT option available)
  • Proof of residence – utility bill

Old Girls Admissions

At St Mary's we understand the importance of family. That's why siblings of children currently enrolled at St Mary's, as well as siblings and children of St Mary's Old Girls, are given special consideration during the admission process.

For Grades 1 and upwards, your daughter will be required to sit the school's entrance assessment.

In certain instances, particularly for High School applicants, your daughter may be required to have an interview with the principal and/or other teachers.

In all cases, we will require a copy of your daughter's most recent school report.

If insufficient places are available, your daughter may be placed on a waiting list*. She will be offered a place, the moment any become available.

You will then need to complete the admission agreement and pay the enrolment fees.

*Waiting lists are valid for one year only. Thereafter the school reserves its rights to reassess your daughter.

OTHER BILLINGS*:

Variable Billings Includes items such as setworks, plays, excursions, insurance, sports tours and trips, extra lessons, house levies, IEB levies (Grade 12 only), The Journey (Grade 9 only), the sms service, Olympiads, Mathletics, study guidelines and some subject specific consumables. Every effort is made to keep the variable billings to a minimum.
Grade 12 IEB Levy R5 650 Payable as follows:
Terms 1 & 2 – R2 000 per term; Term 3 - R1 650
Day Girls' Lunch R1 725 per term (5 days per week); R1 570 (4 days per week)
Day Girls' Supper R41.50 per meal
Aftercare R23.00 per hour
Capital Development & Enrolment Fees R15 515 payable on acceptance

A TERM'S NOTICE (IN WRITING) IS REQUIRED BEFORE:

  • Removal of a pupil from the school
  • Removal of a pupil from boarding
  • Discontinuance of any extra or special subject/s

Failing which, a full term's fixed billings* and boarding fees will become payable in lieu of such notice.

SCHOLAR'S PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (COMPULSORY):

Insurance cover for your daughter is compulsory and the cost is automatically charged to your account. The school's insurers have not yet advised us of the amount for 2017. This will be communicated as soon as it is available. If you already have private cover for your daughter, please advise the Business Manager in writing.

We prefer electronic payments and for security reasons we do not accept cash payments at the school. Parents are asked, therefore, to deposit any cash amounts directly into the school account and fax or email payment details through to the school on 031-7640011 or admissions@stmarysdsg.co.za. Payment options

(a) Annually

Payment of the annual fixed billings* and boarding fees IN FULL before the end of January.

(b) Monthly (compulsory for all pupils starting at the school on or after 1 January 2008)

School billings* must be paid monthly over 10 months (Jan – Oct) using the school's debit order system. The debit order will be deducted on the last working day of every month. There is no charge for this facility. An R100* administration fee will be charged if there is a default on any payment. Interest at a rate of 5% above the prime lending rate will be charged on any overdue portion. The monthly debit order instalment is as follows:

Payment Method

(c) Quarterly (not applicable to pupils starting at the school on or after 1 January 2008)

Quarterly fixed billings*, boarding fees and variable billings* paid IN FULL on or before the first day of the term. Failure to comply will result in the payment terms being automatically converted to the monthly debit order system. Interest at a rate of 5% above the prime lending rate will be charged on any overdue portion. Grade 12 fixed billings* and boarder fees are charged over three terms. The billings are as follows:

St Mary's Bursaries

We believe in giving every girl the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
